“Contemporary art is part of the economy — behind every work there is labor, and around it an entire environment of galleries, curators, collectors, experts and cultural organizations is built. In order to develop the potential of Bulgarian artists, it is not enough to just talk about their talent. A working market, international visibility and sustainable infrastructure are needed. Sofia Art Fair creates just such a meeting — between art and the audience, but also between artists and the people who can support their long-term development,” says Suni Danadzha, creator and main organizer of Sofia Art Fair.

The Creative Director of Sofia Art Fair 2026 is Stefan Stoyanov – a gallerist, curator and consultant with a long-standing international career. He has worked with artists and collectors in Manhattan, Dubai, Bahrain, Moscow and Paris, and discovering new talents and building connections between different cultures and markets is not just a profession for him, but a calling. “Investing in contemporary art – for me, this is love,” says Stefan Stoyanov.

The SAF Talks conference program will be held in parallel with the exhibition from October 9 to 11. It will bring the audience together with international experts, artists, curators, collectors, cultural managers and journalists through lectures, presentations and discussions.

Highlights include discussions on supporting contemporary art in the Balkans, mentoring and long-term professional development of artists, art book publishing, the role of art fairs, collecting contemporary art, working with audiences and new forms of art mediation, creating and experiencing exhibitions and the presence of art in public space.

Sofia Art Fair 2026 will also offer an accompanying program with special projects, curatorial tours, art mediation and creative activities, as well as dedicated AR/VR experiences, a children’s zone and a meeting place.

Visiting Sofia Art Fair is completely free for children and young people under 18, as well as for people with disabilities.

Tickets can be one-day, weekend and three-day, provide access to the full program for the respective day and can be purchased both on site and from the Sofia Art Fair website.
