Sofia Art Fair 2024 presents IMAGO International Artist Residency – Artists At Risk Project, Kata Rudakova, and Dariіa Prokhorchuk.
IMAGO is an international artist residency based in the village of Tsarimir, close to Plovdiv. Last year, the residency received support through the Residency Action grant of the Cultures Moves Europe program, financed by the European Union for its project “Artists at Risk”. The Ukrainian artists represented at the booth participated in a 3 months residency program between May and August 2024, which allowed them to work in a safe, stimulating environment. Their representation at SAF is a continuous effort to help them develop their careers in circumstances they have never anticipated.
Kata Rudakova is a Ukrainian artist born in 1981. She graduated from the Dnipro Art College in 2001 and the Kyiv National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in 2007 – monumental painting faculty. She has developed a recognizable sculpture-like realistic visual style in her paintings through which she explores diverse topics of human sensitivity and social and cultural paradoxes. She’s based in Bucharest and participated in the MoBU art fair in 2023.
Dariia Prokhorchuk was born in 1988. She graduated from “Easel Painting” at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts, with a specialty in “Easel Painting” (2008-2014), and was part of the School of Cultural Management and Creative Industries supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation (Poltava, Ukraine) (2019). Dariia is a Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. She was a finalist at the international portrait art competition among artists from countries from Eastern Europe and Scandinavia, “PORTRÆT NU!” 2019 in Denmark. Currently, she’s working in a visual style that combines realistic images with abstract or semi-abstract environments.
