Samuil Velev

Samuil Velev is an artist whose work combines traditional and contemporary elements to explore the human condition. He graduated from an art high school, specializing in Painting, followed by two years of Fashion at the National Academy of Art Sofia before returning to painting again. In his early years, he explored nature and academicism and after his Exchange in Brera, Milan, he started experimenting with color and technology. For his graduation work, he began to deprive his objects of three-dimensionality as what defines them remains the painterly touch and conditional physical characteristics.

Velev’s work focuses on studying human character beyond its physical value, recreating it through painting. Therefore, he often experiments and changes his approach.

Following the need for experimentation, he participated in creating “The artist at play” – monthly events showcasing the experiences of various emerging artists. In addition to them, over the years, he participated in several joint exhibitions in the country and abroad, and he is currently preparing his first solo exhibition, which will take place at the beginning of December 2024.
