nOva Art Space

Sofia, Bulgaria

Sofia Art Fair 2024 presents nOva art space – Iliana Ilieva, Penka Nikova and Nikolai Panayotov.

nOva art space was established in 2019, as a natural and full successor to art gallery FORUM – Sofia, which in turn has been on the Sofia art scene since 2009. For these 15 years, the gallery has established itself on the Bulgarian art market as one of the leading art galleries, presenting both contemporary and classical art. One of the main goals of the gallery is to build continuity and a bridge between generations.

Iliana Ilieva (b. 1986 – Bulgaria) is a multidisciplinary visual artist focusing on contemporary realism. As an artist she is an observer, a visionary, a storyteller, a social documentalist, a free spirit, a provocateur. In 2023 she was one of the participants in the large-scale art action The Brick, which united more than 140 Bulgarian artists.

Penka Nikova (b. 1964 – Bulgaria) has graduated from the National Art Academy “Nikolay Pavlovich” with a major in Sculpture. She works in the field of sculpture and small plastic. Her works are exquisite and reflect her fresh sense of humor, her preferred material is bronze, but she also experiments with paper.

Nikolai Panayotov (b. 1956 – Bulgaria) graduated from the National Art Academy with a major in Mural Painting in 1983. After 1990 he settled in Paris, where the French Ministry of Culture provided him with a studio. He created the scenography and costumes for the Wagner cycle “The ring of Nibelunga” for the Sofia Opera. The production toured in Germany and the Bolshoi theater, Moscow. The critics in Europe described it as “sensational” and “the most beautiful” Wagner’s ring.
