Monev Contemporary promotes established and emerging artists from Europe, USA and Asia, and is acclaimed for nurturing the careers of young artists from Bulgaria and Eastern Europe. Its core mission is to identify, present and develop good ideas reflecting world concerns through art and its varied means.
Iv Toshain is an Austrian artist born behind the Iron Curtain in Sofia in 1980. As a young child, she lived with her family in Iraq, later in Libya. She studied at the National Art Academy in Sofia, completed her MA in the master class of Franz Graf at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, and a postgraduate at the Accademia delle Belle Arti di Brera in Milan.
Lazar Lyutakov was born in 1977 in Shabla, Bulgaria. His works were included in the 58th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, where he and Rada Boukova represented Bulgaria.
Dimitar Mitovski was born in 1964 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. He graduated film and animation directing at NATFIZ “Krastyo Sarafov” in 1990. He has been working in cinema, television, fine arts, video arts, photography, art installations, object art, new mediums and commercials.
Voin de Voin was born in 1978. He lives and works in Sofia. He is the co-founder (with Snezhanka Mihaylova) of the Institute for Performance Art and Theory. Since July 2016 he has been running an independent art space in Sofia called ÆTHER.
Ventsislav Zankov was born in 1962. He graduated with a degree in Sculpture at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia in 1988. Over the years, he has been behind many initiatives and curatorial projects.
Sergey Rozhin was born in 1988, Sverdlovsk, USSR (now Yekaterinburg, Russia). His prolific and multidisciplinary approach is closely related to his extensive involvement with theater, spoken word, and rap music.
Grozdan Mihaylov is one of the young Bulgarian artists with a distinct personal style. Born on May 26, 1989, in Pazardzhik, he graduated from Applied Arts in an art high school and then pursued scenography at New Bulgarian University. He began his career in 2009 and has professionally developed as a stylist and designer. For over 15 years, he has been responsible for the overall visual appearance of the most popular personalities in Bulgaria, leaving his mark on numerous TV commercials, music videos, magazines, cinema, theater, and fashion campaigns. It would be difficult to separate Grozdan as an artist from Grozdan as a global citizen, as these two concepts are mutually intertwined. His days are filled with art from morning, which is a fundamental part of his life.
