Georgi Yanchev

Sofia, Bulgaria

Georgi Yanchev, born 2004 in Sofia, Bulgaria, is currently studying painting at the National Academy of Arts, having previously graduated from the National School of Fine Arts “Ilia Petrov”. The themes in his paintings depict mystical harmony, solitude, and tranquillity.

In his own words: “In my paintings, mystical harmony, solitude, and tranquillity predominate. Through the variety of scenes from our everyday life, I invite the viewer to discover harmony and solace in these quiet, often overlooked scenes. My works encourage viewers to reflect on often overlooked architectural elements of our surroundings, highlighting the beauty and complexity found in the interaction between light, shadow, and form. Different colour palettes, vibrant accents, and diverse lighting dynamics serve to depict the quiet tension created by these landscapes. My approach involves experimenting with various subjects and techniques. I craft compelling compositions inspired by nature, occasionally making the brushstrokes more expressive to add dynamism and emotional depth to my works. Each painting is a result from a conscious exploration of various methods of applying and manipulating the paint, allowing me to produce a range of textures and effects that enhance the visual experience. Through this process, I aim to discover new forms of expression and push the boundaries of traditional painting.”
