Eclipse

Sofia Art Fair 2024 presents Eclipse Gallery, Anja Billing, and Emmanuel Fabriol.

Eclipse Gallery was founded in 2024 after 20 years of art expertise in modern and contemporary art by auctioneer Sophie Spettel. The gallery is characterised by the artists’ quest to establish an order of things within the history of Western painting. It is a gallery for contemporary paintings, drawings, and prints presenting young and mid-career artists from Europe. Eclipse Gallery is based in Berlin with hybrid venues in Europe.

Anja Billing is German and was born in 1967. She has studied at the former East Berlin University of Fine Arts and her main technique is oil painting with a mastery in use of colours, which define the Berlin School of painting. With reference to the western art history, the artist is seeking for the enigma behind the collective memory and the “higher order” behind painting. She was a professor for painting at the HAW Hamburg and a visiting professor for painting at the HfBK Dresden.

Emmanuel Fabriol is French and was born in 1974. He is a painter who has travelled a lot throughout his life, so his practice is based on an anthropological concern. He searches for the place of human beings in our world who grow increasingly out of touch with its origins. He is interested in the paradox of life. Fabriol has been teaching painting and exhibiting in France since 2020.
