Sofia Art Fair 2024 presents Doza Gallery – Alexander Yuzev, Anton Stoianov, and Mitch Brezounek.

Doza Gallery, located in Sofia, Bulgaria, was founded in 2019 with a dedicated focus on contemporary art. A hub for interdisciplinary and conceptually driven art across a wide spectrum of artistic mediums, Doza has been committed to showcasing emerging and established Bulgarian and international artists. The diverse programme aims to challenge conventional perspectives and systems, fostering a platform that encourages dialogue and reflection on contemporary societal questions.

Alexander Yuzev, born in 1977 in Sofia, Bulgaria, graduated with a degree in Mural Painting from the National Academy of Arts in Sofia in 2002. Yuzev’s work is distinguished by a profound exploration of conceptual themes interwoven with contemporary artistic expressions. Utilising a variety of mediums, including mural painting, installation, and mixed media, he investigates the complexities of identity, societal constructs, and the human condition.

Anton Stoianov, born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1978, is based in Berlin, Germany. He graduated from the Universität der Künste, Berlin in 2007. His work spans various media, including painting, installation, design, and scenography. A distinctive feature of his art is his focus on Byzantine painting styles and techniques, evident in his series of icons that blend traditional and contemporary elements to create a new style of iconography.

Mitch Brezounek was born in France in 1989 and has been based in Plovdiv, Bulgaria since 2016. He graduated with a National Diploma of Plastic Arts from the Beaux Arts Academy of Lorient, France. From 2013 to 2017, he was a member of the art collective “Ouest Fisting” from Lorient, which was part of the underground graphic culture involving fanzines, silkscreen printing, video, and other media.
